i-Lipo is the latest in laser lipolysis, offering you a way to achieve inch loss and body contouring with no pain, no needles and no down time.
i-Lipo is a new revolutionary system that uses low level lasers for smoothing cellulite, fat reduction, and body shaping treatments. The i-Lipo uses photobiomodulation to stimulate the body’s natural process for releasing stored content in the adipose cells. Every day, the human body is storing excess calories from your diet in the adipose tissue. The brain is in control of when the contents are released, and then metabolized into energy. You can compare the adipose cells to a re-chargeable battery, sometimes used and sometimes stored up depending on diet and exercise. i-Lipo is used to trigger the release of the contents, without exercise, and is able to target the precise stubborn areas. i-Lipo is non-invasive with no pain, no needles, and no downtime. Patients can expect results of losing 1-2 dress sizes during their course of treatments. i-Lipo is best paired with with a change in lifestyle to maintain your results, typically just simple diet and exercise.
The i-Lipo treatment is quick and simple, being completed in less than 30 minutes. The course of treatment should be 8 sessions, performed twice a week so body reshaping can be complete in four weeks. Only 1 area is treated per day in order to maximize the burning off of the contents. If there is an excess of content in need of being burned off then there is a risk that it will be stored back as fat again. Once a patient has completed a course of treatments they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep their results. After i-Lipo treatment nutritional supplements are also used to maintain and encourage metabolic activity and to support a healthier lifestyle.
How does it work?
The i-Lipo emits low levels of laser energy, which creates a chemical signal in the fat cells, breaking down the stored triglycerides into free fatty acids and glycerol and releasing them though channels in the cell membranes. The fatty acids and glycerol are then transported around the body to the tissues that will use them during metabolism to create energy. This process of fatty acid release is a natural response of the body when the body needs to used stored energy reserves, thus i-Lipo does not creating any unnatural reaction in the body nor does it affect or damage any surrounding structures such as skin, blood vessels and peripheral nerves. A period of exercise post treatment will ensure the complete metabolism and thus elimination from the body of the freed fatty acids.
Where does the fat go?
The light shines on the target chromophore, the Mitochondria. A temporary change is created on the surface membrane of thefat cells creating temporary pores within 4-6 minutes. Within 10 minutes the fat cells completely empty and collapse. The fatcells are transformed and shrunk similar to a grape changing to a raisin. Once the light is removed, the PH state is restored and the pores on the fat cells close back up. The fat cells are now smaller cells. The fat cell can expand 4 times its size. The i-Lipo shrinks the fat cells down and keeps them small. The fat cell membranes are not destroyed – they remain intact. Fat cells are described as endocrine glands that produce hormones called leptin, and they are also responsible for immune function. Morbidly obese patients have an imbalance in leptin levels, and the leptin is responsibility for increased appetite. Reducing the size of the fat cells and normalizing the leptin levels serves as a natural appetite suppressant. The lymphatic stimulating diode lasers shine on the lymph nodes and trigger the small intestines to produce lipase – an enzyme that breaks down the releasedfat. Once the fat is released from the fat cells, lipase helps break down the fat. About 360 calories are released from the fatcells after one 20 minute i-Lipo treatment. 2 hours is the peak release of fat, so exercising within 2 hours to burn off the excess 360 calories released is ideal. The broken down fat is used as energy by the brain, organs, muscles, and it is also burned by the exercise. The excess fat is broken down further by lipase, and eliminated through the lymphatic system through the kidneys (urine), and sweat. 70% of lymph is located directly under the skin, so lymphatic massage, dry brushing, stretching (Yoga), exercise, and compression garments can be useful to move along the lymph. Drinking water is also essential for increasing lymphatic stimulation. 80% of the body is made up of water, and the lymphatic system is very depended on a hydrated body. Avoiding or limiting beverages such as alcohol, tea, and caffeine (which are diuretics that dehydrate the body) is wise during i-lipo treatment. The i-Lipo is more effective if the body is hydrated not dehydrated, and the lymphatic system is flowing in a healthy fashion. Smoking also impedes the lymphatic system, and can diminish the results of the i-Lipo. During natural exercise, the body naturally triggers the release of fat so that the body can use the released fat for exercise – but the body releases only a small amount of fat all over the body. The i-Lipo synthetically tricks the fat cells to open and release a much greater quantity of fat in a much more rapid, accelerated fashion way beyond what natural exercise alone could ever do. The i-Lipo also has the ability to release fat exactly where you want it to be released, in a specific, targeted, desired area (such as love-handles, thighs, and chin). This makes the i-Lipo the ideal target body sculpting device. Just make sure you exercise within 2 hours of i-Lipo to burn off that excess 360 calories that the i-Lipo laser light help the fat cells to release.
Is it safe and painless?
i-Lipo uses low levels of visible red laser light to create a safe and painless bio-stimulation effect in the targeted fat tissue. This stimulation is of the normal chemical pathways which the body uses to free up energy resources when required, so i-Lipo does not produce any abnormal effects in the body or damage body tissue such as cells, blood vessels or neighbouring nerves or vital organs. The treatment can be performed on all skin types and body areas where unwanted fat is stored and you can return to normal activity immediately after treatment.
There have been no incidences of stroke or thrombo-emboli, and other low-light laser studies have actually showed a 13% reduction in LDL. Low light laser therapy has been used since the 1970’s for various indications such as wound healing, burns, chronic pain, and inflammation. Low light laser technology is extremely saft.
Do I see Immediate results?
Results can be seen immediately after treatment. Typically a 2-4cm loss in abdomen circumference can be achieved with every treatment. A course of 8 treatments is recommended over 4 weeks with 2 treatments per week.
How soon will I gain the fat/inches back?
You can lose more inches/fat in one month with the i-Lipo than 10 months at a gym alone. If you were to lose 8-10 inches with a hired personal trainer at a gym over the course of 10 months, and you then fired the personal trainer, you wouldn’t ask the personal trainer “how soon will I gain the inches back?” It is the same answer for the i-Lipo. The i-Lipo is like a “personal trainer in a machine.” Fat cells can expand 4 times their size. Keeping them small is the key, and the i-lipo can achieve this. Many patients book appointments with their i-lipo 3 times per year (pre-holiday, post holidays / new years, and summer bikini weather) – patients view the i-Lipo as visiting their “personal trainer in a machine” 3 times per year.
Why do I lose inches but not pounds?
The fat cell membrane remains intact (and the membrane accounts for 94% of the weight of the cell). The light fluffy fat inside the fat cell membrane is released (and that accounts for 6% of the weight of the cell). Therefore; a patient can lose 8 inches, but may only lose 2 pounds. Each pound lost equates to about 3-4 inches in loss. If a patient loses 3-4 inches of fat, it is equivalent to about a 2 liter bottle of fat in total volume.
- Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water each day – But not over a gallon, one week prior, during, and one week after treatment.
- Eliminate alcohol, artificial sweeteners, and limit caffeine one week prior, during, and one week after treatment. If you choose to have a caffeinated beverage, drink 2 additional glasses of water immediately afterwards.
- Eat 4-5 smaller meals a day. The liver will be able to process food more efficiently. Stay away from processed foods – the liver needs to stop processing fat in order to process those foods.
- Exercise 30-45 minutes of mild to moderate exercise each day. Walking, yoga, pilates and swimming are all good things to do. Anything to demanding like weight lifting or power walking will build up lactic acid and the body will burn suger instead of fat. If you have been in a regular exercise routine for 6+ months, keep it up. Concentrate more on cardio less on weights.
- Compression garments might be worn 8 hours per day. (i.e. Spanx or L’eggs Body Shapers).
