What makes Juvéderm Voluma™ XC different?
Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is also hyaluronic acid filler, but it has a number of special characteristics that make it unique. Most other hyaluronic acid fillers are considered “dermal fillers” meaning that they are more appropriate for injection into the dermal layer of the skin, and they are most effective in relieving lines and smoothing out wrinkles and folds alongside with adding volume. Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is intended for deeper injection, into the subdermal area of the skin, and as such, Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is most effective for adding volume and volumizing the skin (and that is why it is called Juvéderm Voluma™ XC).
Another unique characteristic of Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is that its hyaluronic acid molecules are highly cross-linked resulting in exceptional stability and resilience against degradation and breaking down in the body. This cross-linkage also gives Juvéderm its characteristic texture. Clinical studies have shown that Juvéderm Voluma™ XC can last as long as 2 years which is significantly longer than other hyaluronic acid fillers.
Finally, Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is designed in a way to absorb relatively lesser amounts of water, and hence the undesirable swelling following the injection is minimized.
- The only FDA-approved filler to instantly volumize cheek area and restore its natural lift
- Restores lost facial volume
- Long-lasting volumizing effect, up to 2 years!
- Natural-looking results
- Minimal swelling and no down-time; Quick return to normal activities
Safe and effective. Side effects are usually moderate and they resolve within a few weeks, and they may include local reactions at site of injection such as swelling, tenderness, lumps, redness, discoloration, bruising and itching.
How is Juvéderm Voluma™ XC different then Juvéderm Ultra or Ultra Plus?
Juvéderm Voluma™ XC works on a different area of the face and is indicated for a longer duration of up to two years. Juvéderm Voluma™ XC adds volume to the mid-facial, cheek, and lateral upper face areas, while Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra Plus XC smooths moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, like parentheses, and is also commonly used to rejuvenate the lips.
Does it hurt?
Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is already mixed with lidocaine (anesthetic) and in addition, we also use numbing cream on the face prior to the procedure. Most clients find fillers to be a fairly comfortable procedure.
When will I see results and can I go out after?
Results are immediately seen! There may be swelling or bruising for 2-7 days after the procedure. Redness in the areas treated can last a few hours on the first day. Tinted moisturizer or light cover-up typically can cover any minor redness or bruising.
How long will the results last?
Duration of results depends on the area injected, but ranges from 18-24 months.
Is it reversible?
Very, very rarely are patients unhappy with their filler treatment. We are the experts in fillers and sometimes need to help patients who come in to see us after filler is injected poorly or too superficially by an outside clinic with inexperienced practitioners. Hyaluronic acid fillers including all Juvéderm products can be easily corrected and dissolved in 24-48 hours and your skin will return to baseline.
What happens if I don’t get retreated?
Gradually, your body will reabsorb the filler and your wrinkles and folds will return to baseline. It does not worsen any wrinkles with use.
