Pre and Post Treatment Care: VI Peel Face & Body
Pre-treatment Care
- Wait at least 2 to 4 weeks after microneedling before getting a VI Peel.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7 days prior to your appointment.
- Refrain from waxing, threading, or using hair removal creams for 10 to 14 days before the peel.
- Hold off on laser treatments or electrolysis for at least 1 week beforehand.
- Stop using Retin-A or similar products for at least 3 days before your appointment.
Skin Prepping (Recommended for Best Results)
- Pre-condition the skin 3–4 weeks before your VI Peel with the VI Peel Correction Kit or TXA 7% is highly recommended.
- Especially important for darker skin tones (skin type IV and above) to:
- Even skin tone
- Strengthen the skin barrier
- Minimize post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Enhance peel performance and recovery
- Ask your provider if a prep regimen is right for your skin type and goals.
Post-treatment Care
- Avoid the following for at least 7 days post-peel:
- Hot showers directed at your face
- Steam rooms, saunas, jacuzzis
- Swimming
- Heavy exercise that causes sweating
- Avoid scrubs, brushes, or facial tools for at least 10–14 days after the peel.
Day 1
- Skin may appear yellowish, reddish, or tan — this is normal.
- Gently cleanse skin 4 hours post-peel with lukewarm water only.
- Face: Apply a light layer of the provided post-peel moisturizer as needed; use a small amount of Aquaphor if stinging occurs.
- Body: Apply a thin layer of the provided 1oz Retinoic Serum; if needed, apply the Vi Derm Post Treatment Repair Cream.
- Apply SPF if still daylight; stay hydrated.
- Before bedtime:
- Face: Wash gently, pat dry, use post-peel wipe.
- Body: Repeat earlier steps.
- Rinse with cool water if skin feels itchy or irritated.
Day 2
- Clean face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry (avoid hot water).
- Face: Reapply post-peel moisturizer 2–4 times/day and SPF during daylight; use a post-peel towelette an hour before bed.
- Body: Apply thin layer of Retinoic Serum; use Vi Derm Repair Cream if needed.
- Rinse with cool water if irritation occurs.
Days 3–5
- Repeat steps from Day 1 & 2.
- Light peeling or flaking will likely begin — normal.
- Do not pick or pull at shedding skin.
- Makeup may be resumed on Day 5.
Days 6–10
- Keep skincare routine gentle — no scrubbing.
- Face: Prescription topicals (Retin-A, HQ) can be restarted once fully healed (usually Day 8+).
- Body: Apply Vi Derm Repair Cream as needed.
- Visible peeling may last 3–7 days.
