Pre and Post Treatment Care: VI Peel Face & Body

Pre-treatment Care

  • Wait at least 2 to 4 weeks after microneedling before getting a VI Peel.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7 days prior to your appointment.
  • Refrain from waxing, threading, or using hair removal creams for 10 to 14 days before the peel.
  • Hold off on laser treatments or electrolysis for at least 1 week beforehand.
  • Stop using Retin-A or similar products for at least 3 days before your appointment.

Skin Prepping (Recommended for Best Results)

  • Pre-condition the skin 3–4 weeks before your VI Peel with the VI Peel Correction Kit or TXA 7% is highly recommended.
  • Especially important for darker skin tones (skin type IV and above) to:
    • Even skin tone
    • Strengthen the skin barrier
    • Minimize post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
    • Enhance peel performance and recovery
  • Ask your provider if a prep regimen is right for your skin type and goals.

Post-treatment Care

  • Avoid the following for at least 7 days post-peel:
    • Hot showers directed at your face
    • Steam rooms, saunas, jacuzzis
    • Swimming
    • Heavy exercise that causes sweating
  • Avoid scrubs, brushes, or facial tools for at least 10–14 days after the peel.

Day 1

  • Skin may appear yellowish, reddish, or tan — this is normal.
  • Gently cleanse skin 4 hours post-peel with lukewarm water only.
  • Face: Apply a light layer of the provided post-peel moisturizer as needed; use a small amount of Aquaphor if stinging occurs.
  • Body: Apply a thin layer of the provided 1oz Retinoic Serum; if needed, apply the Vi Derm Post Treatment Repair Cream.
  • Apply SPF if still daylight; stay hydrated.
  • Before bedtime:
    • Face: Wash gently, pat dry, use post-peel wipe.
    • Body: Repeat earlier steps.
  • Rinse with cool water if skin feels itchy or irritated.

Day 2

  • Clean face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry (avoid hot water).
  • Face: Reapply post-peel moisturizer 2–4 times/day and SPF during daylight; use a post-peel towelette an hour before bed.
  • Body: Apply thin layer of Retinoic Serum; use Vi Derm Repair Cream if needed.
  • Rinse with cool water if irritation occurs.

Days 3–5

  • Repeat steps from Day 1 & 2.
  • Light peeling or flaking will likely begin — normal.
  • Do not pick or pull at shedding skin.
  • Makeup may be resumed on Day 5.

Days 6–10

  • Keep skincare routine gentle — no scrubbing.
  • Face: Prescription topicals (Retin-A, HQ) can be restarted once fully healed (usually Day 8+).
  • Body: Apply Vi Derm Repair Cream as needed.
  • Visible peeling may last 3–7 days.
