Kybella® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that’s used specific to break down and absorb fat cells around the chin area. The active ingredient in Kybella® is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring molecule in the body called deoxycholic acid. When injected into areas of unwanted fat, Kybella® causes the destruction of fat cells resulting in a noticeable reduction in the fullness under the chin or what’s commonly known as “double chin”.

Treatment can only be administered by a Kybella®-trained healthcare specialist and here at La Bella, we have a well-qualified staff of specialists who are ready to serve your needs. Kybella is injected into the fat under the chin with a very thin needle in a series of treatments spaced about 1 month apart. The treatment is simple, comfortable and completed in minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile and will assessed by our specialists. In clinical trials, 3-5 sessions were used for moderate to severe “double chins”, and fat reduction in treated areas occurred gradually over weeks to months.
Treatment with Kybella is done through a thin-needle injection similar to Botox and is typically without significant discomfort. There might be a slight burning sensation when the product is administered, and depending on your tolerance, you may feel the sensation of discomfort. However, here at La Bella, we take measures to ensure you have pleasant of an experience as possible, so a mix of topical creams and / or lidocaine injection will help alleviate any discomfort you may feel during the sessions.
The targeted destruction of fat by Kybella induces a natural healing response that may result in new collagen formation or neo-collagenase in the treated area. This often results in tightening or retraction of the skin for a more sculpted and defined jawline. Many of our patients have noticed that some contouring is done as treatments progress.
Other skin tightening and lifting procedures such as Radio Frequency or Ultra Sound lifting will produce either complimentary or more dramatic results.
The results gained with Kybella® are considered long term and the fat will not return once dissolved. FDA studies showed maintenance of the improvement even 5 years after treatment when patients maintained a stable body weight.

There is some swelling in the first 2-3 days after receiving Kybella® treatments and is typically completely resolved in a week. After day 3, most swelling should no longer be noticeable. During the month between treatments, you may feel some firmness under the skin of the treated area. This actually signifies that Kybella® is working to dissolve the fat, but if you have any concerns, our specialists are here to answer any of your questions.
Results vary from patient to patient, but we definitely see results after two to three treatments as the fat begins to melt away in the double-chin. Many patients see results even after the first treatment.
